stylish colorways that embrace the shoe’s history

OK, it’s unreleased, but that doesn’t mean it’ll always stay that way. So just for the sake of being prepared in any contingency, check out the Nike Air Force 1 Low Varsity Patch Burgundy, with its white leather heel and two-tone maroon at the nubuck toe, chenille Swoosh and nylon side panel. We’ll let you know if that “unreleased” status changes.Another wildly-eye-catching-in-all-the-right-ways Air Max 90, following up the just-previewed Purple Safari colorway, the Nike Air Max 90 Tree Snake perfectly blends Nike Air Max 2015 Dame electric green leather with inset grey Nike Air Max 2015 Mens mesh and a snakeskin-style black mudguard. Another fantastic look to start off the New Year.Well, “Zebra” is as good as any nickname I suppose, though the mix of black-and-white striping, black patent leather, purple accenting, and grey leather make giving it any one moniker a bit difficult. An outstanding design all the same, though. Stay tuned for release details.Upon a quick cursory glance, given an unlimited budget, you could easily drop about two grand on shoes releasing on December 31st alone, and that’s without stretching the definition of “like” at all. (LeBron Xs and Air Max 90s and KD Vs, oh my.) For example, the Nike Air Max 1 OG release date is set for New Year’s Eve day, and it’s just about as must-have as can be.
In this case, “OG” means exactly what you think. The Running/Sportswear icon returns in its most familiar Nike Air Max 90 Mens look, with inset white mesh on the upper set against overlaying neutral grey and university red completing an absolutely classic aesthetic. You can very easily make the case for this being one of the best shoes of all time. As such, expect a quick sell-out.If you really break it down and analyze things — I haven’t, so this is just knee-jerk, quite-possibly-hyperbolic speculation — we’re in the midst of an historically good run of Nike and Jordan releases, with seemingly a dozen dope drops every weekend. Case in point, one of the myriad end-of-the-year must-haves, the “OG” Nike Air Max 90 Infrared, release date scheduled for 12/31.Sporting the iconic Air Max 90’s most famous colorway, the shoe sets an off-white mesh upper against overlaid grey suede, black leather mudguard and of course the eponymous red accents. Expect an instant sell-out.First look at the upcoming Nike Air Max 90 Purple Safari, a beautiful colorway with an upper combining honeycomb mesh, black suede, safari print-adorned leather and purple accenting. The result is simply one of the best Air Max 90’s in recent memory, keeping it subdued and subtle while incorporating some bells and whistles. To the jump!Next year is the 40th anniversary of the Nike Blazer, and we’re expecting a slew of stylish colorways that embrace the shoe’s history and its place as one of the true classics. And perhaps no series is doing that better than the ’77 collection, featuring simple colorways, vintage styling and the occasional special material. Case in point, the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Snakeskin, seen here in three colorways. Expect them on shelves in Spring 2013. Nike Sportswear’s premium “Essential” line adds another Nike Air Max 90 Damen colorway to its AM1 niche in the form Nike Air Max 1 Donne of the Nike Air Max 1 Essential Atomic Teal, now hitting select NSW retailers.
Dark green suede comprises the mudguard, with inset off-white mesh against lime leather through the rest of the upper. The result is an aged yet timeless look that’s now hitting spots like Berkeley’s Bows & Arrows.
