CANMORE, Alta. -- Brian McKeever won his second gold medal of the first ever IPC World Cup on his home track after taking first place in the mens 20-kilometre visually impaired classic-ski race on Thursday. McKeever, 34, won the race in a time of 54 minutes 55.4 seconds. The event is serving as one of his final tune-ups for the Canadian Olympic trials next year. "It was a good day. I think the key thing is that we develop a game plan and it is working," the 10-time Paralympic medallist said in a release. Russias Stanislav Chokhlaev and his guide Maksim Pirogov skied to the silver medal with a time of 55:22.8, while fellow Russian Vladimir Udaltcov and Rusian Bogachev teamed up to win the bronze medal in 58:12.8. "It was a good tight race today to the finish," said McKeever. "I was coming into the final corner and a guy fell on me which spun me around. That happens when you have a bunch of blind guys skiing. As Christian Ouellet held patiently on the left wing, Pageau cut to the net from the other side, took a pass from Ouellet and redirected it past Corbeil. Saint John was finally able to solve Gibson on a 4-on-3 power play, when Beaulieu buried a one-timer from Gibsons left, finishing a feed from Charles Coyle at 13:48. Jurco then tied the game with a short-handed goal, stealing a puck at the Chicoutimi blue-line, going in alone on Gibson and beating him with a deke. Saint John went ahead early in the third period. Ian Saab fired a solid shot on net from the left point and Tesink was on the spot to deposit the rebound for his seventh of the playoffs at 2:27. Pageau evened things up 15 seconds later with his second of the night. Gauthier pulled the Sea Dogs ahead 4-3, cutting in from the left wing and firing shot across Gibson for his ninth of the post-season with an assist from Pierre Durepos at 16:43. Bourret tied it up yet again just 44 seconds later with a shot from the left point that found its way through. It was the first of the playoffs for the former Sea Dog and sent the game to overtime.
