MELBOURNE, Australia -- Two-time cancer survivor Jarrod Lyle made the weekend cut in the Australian Masters in his first event in 20 month. Lyle followed his opening 72 and with a 71 on Friday to reach 1-over 143 at Royal Melbourne. The Australian hadnt played a tournament since a second bout with myeloid leukemia in early 2012 after having first fought off the disease when he was 17. The 32-year-old Lyle said his legs felt heavy but he would draw on his "fighting instinct" to finish the weekend. "If I have to crawl those last 18 holes, Im crawling them," Lyle said. "Nothings going to stop me from finishing." Lyle, then a regular on the U.S. PGA Tour, was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2012 just before the birth of daughter Lusi. Lyles wife, Briony, became pregnant despite medical advice that Lyles first bout of cancer and the resulting chemotherapy would leave him sterile. Nowitzki gave Dallas the lead with a free throw to make the score 98-97 with 32.3 seconds left. He then got a piece of Eric Gordons driving floater, grabbed the rebound and hit two more free throws with 8 seconds left. "It could have gone either way," Nowitzki said. "Finally, we were on the other end one time in execution and getting some stops and getting some big rebounds. It was definitely a good one to get against a very good team."
