SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Jim Boeheim won his first game in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He likely wont rest easy any time soon, though. C.J. Fair scored 15 points, including the go-ahead basket with 4:16 to go, and No. 2 Syracuse rallied late to beat Miami 49-44 on Saturday in the Oranges ACC debut. Syracuse trailed 35-29 nearing the midpoint of the second half of a slow-paced game that featured just three fast-break points -- a 3-pointer by Syracuses Trevor Cooney in the first 5 minutes of play. But with the sharpshooting Cooney suffering through his worst shooting performance of the season, the Orange found a way to prevail in the end by going inside against Miamis matchup zone. "When you get into league play, youre going to have games like this," Boeheim said. "Its not easy. Were going to see this a lot." Syracuse (14-0, 1-0) entered the game as one of seven unbeaten teams remaining in Division I and struggled against Miami (8-6, 0-2), the reigning conference champion. The Hurricanes are the only team in the conference with no returning starters, and they lost their ACC opener 61-60 in overtime to Virginia Tech in early December. On this day, they gave the Orange a game right until the end. A long jumper from the right corner by Rion Brown gave Miami a 35-29 lead with 12:22 remaining and the Hurricanes were executing coach Jim Larranagas game plan nicely, taking time off the clock and preventing the Orange from scoring inside. "They had a real solid matchup zone and we couldnt really get anything going," Fair said. "They got good shots working the shot clock down and made us work on defence. Its tough playing defence that long." Still, Syracuse managed to slowly chip away at the lead. Fairs 3 from the right corner at 11:08 was the Oranges first basket of the second half and narrowed the deficit to 35-32. After two free throws by Davon Reed gave Miami a 40-35 lead, Rakeem Christmas scored twice inside -- on a putback and lefty hook in the lane -- to start a decisive 10-4 Orange run. "When we got down, we just wanted to go back out there and be stronger, make big plays," Christmas said. "It got our team going and we turned up our defence from there. We just came together as a team." Jerami Grant hit a jumper from the free throw line, Fair converted a spinning layup in the lane and Tyler Ennis hit a driving layup to give Syracuse a 43-40 lead with 3:19 left. Syracuse overcame a 25-7 deficit and beat then-No. 8 Villanova by 16 points a week ago, but the Orange struggled to find any rhythm against Miami. With 7:54 left, Cooney was 2 of 11 from the field, all from 3-point range. He entered the game shooting 50 per cent from long range (43 of 86), tops in the ACC. "I got open 3s, they just didnt fall," said Cooney, who finished 2 of 12. "Its tough. You just have to hang strong. It was great to see us hang in there." Miami pulled within 43-42 on a reverse layup by James Kelly with 2:15 left, but Ennis scored again inside, and Cooney and Ennis both hit two free throws in the final minute as the Orange prevailed. "We got a little spread out in the zone," Brown said. "We were so worried about the shooters they got in the lane a couple of times and got some easy layups. We deviated from the game plan just a couple of plays and it showed." Miami, which trailed by four points at halftime, started the second half with a 14-4 run as the Orange missed their first nine shots. Garrius Adams, who led Miami with nine points, and freshman Manu Lecomte hit 3-pointers and Brown hit a jumper from deep in the right corner to key the surge. "The tempo was what we wanted. We needed to keep them on defence," Larranaga said. "Time of possession was very important, almost like a football game. Defensively, we wanted to keep them on the perimeter, and thats the one disappointing part for us. Overall, we had a good defensive game plan and executed it pretty well, but at the end they got some interior baskets and that really hurt us." Cooney finished with 11 points and Ennis had 10 points, seven assists and two turnovers for Syracuse. Forward Dajuan Coleman, who sat out Tuesdays game against Eastern Michigan nursing a sore left knee, dressed and participated in pregame warmups but did not play. Kelly and Lecomte both finished with eight points for Miami, which finished 7 of 19 from 3-point range. The Hurricanes didnt look like the team that went 0 for 15 from 3-point range in opening the season with an overtime loss to St. Francis Brooklyn, a program that hasnt finished over .500 since 2003-04. Facing the vaunted Syracuse zone, the Hurricanes were up for the task, hitting 5 of 11 3-point attempts in the first half. Adams and Lecomte hit from long range on successive possessions late in the period and Miami trailed just 25-21 at halftime. Nick Novak Chargers Jersey . Lecavalier capped a topsy-turvy finish by scoring with 15 seconds left, sending the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. It was his first goal since Nov. 27, a 22-game span that included nine games he missed with a back injury. "It felt good. Theyve been hard to come by since I got back from my injury," Lecavalier said. "Sometimes a goal like that will kind of, I dont want to say jumpstart, but get more confidence and keep going." The goal came during a scramble in the Sabres end and after Lecavalier missed on two other chances in the final 2-plus minutes. After his initial shot just missed the net, teammate Matt Read dug out a loose puck to the left of the Buffalo net and fed Lecavalier, who one-timed a shot from the left circle. The goal capped a furious finish in which the teams traded leads twice by combining to score four times in the final 6:32. Scott Hartnell had a goal and two assists, while Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek also scored in helping Philadelphia snap a two-game skid. Wayne Simmonds had two assists for the Flyers (24-19-4), who improved to 8-3 in their past 11 games. It was a game in which the Flyers twice rallied from one-goal deficits, and won for the eighth time this season when trailing in the third period. "Never give up, thats probably the biggest thing," said Hartnell, who has five goals and eight assists in his past 13 games. "We showed a lot of character, especially late there coming back." The Sabres, by comparison, wilted in what proved to be yet another reflection of why the young and patchwork teams NHL-worst record dropped to 13-27-5. Cody Hodgson and Matt DAgostini each had a goal and assist for Buffalo, which had an eight-game home point streak snapped at 6-0-2. Tyler Ennis also scored and Steve Ott set up two for the Sabres. "Missed assignments, not determined enough to battle for the puck, spinning and turning off hits, not getting an inch in the lanes, all of the above," interim coach Ted Nolan said, assessing what went wrong. "We just didnnt do what we were supposed to do at the end.dddddddddddd." Nolan could add undisciplined penalties to the list. The Flyers converted two of six power-play chances, including Hartnells goal that put Philadelphia ahead 3-2 with Buffalos Zenon Konopka off for goalie interference. The Sabres squandered a rare offensive outburst, and blew a chance to win consecutive games for only the third time this season. Buffalo managed three goals in regulation for the first time in 10 games and only the ninth time this season. Buffalo also wasted what was a solid outing by backup goalie Jhonas Enroth, who stopped 29 shots but got little help in front on all four Flyers goals. That included Lecavaliers goal, during which a Sabres defender pushed a Flyers player into Enroth. Enroth did make a highlight-reel save on Claude Giroux 12 minutes into the first period, when he dived to his right and punched his glove out to stop the shot. The goalie also robbed Lecavalier with 2:23 left, when the forwards centring pass from a bad angle struck Sabres defenceman Mike Weber in front. The puck fluttered toward the net before Enroth dropped his stick and managed to smother it in the crease. NOTES: Sabres D Tyler Myers is eligible to return at Toronto on Wednesday after sitting out the third and final game of his suspension for an illegal check to the head of New Jersey forward Dainius Zubrus. ... Read returned after missing six games with concussion-like symptoms. ... Sabres President Pat LaFontaine said he thinks the team and rookie centre Mikhail Grigorenko are "on the same page" regarding the 2012 first-round picks development after the player initially balked at reporting to his Canadian junior team in Quebec City last weekend. LaFontaine said Grigorenko needs to develop by continuing to play, which would not have happened if he stayed in Buffalo with the 17-day Olympic break approaching next month. "Were doing what we think is best to develop our players," LaFontaine said. "I really believe under all the circumstances, that (Quebec City) is the best place for him." ... DAgostini earned his 100th career point with an assist on Hodgsons game-opening goal. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

It may be All-Star Weekend in Ottawa, but general managers around the league are well aware that Trade Deadline Day exactly one month from today. So while the players are wowing the crowds at Scotiabank Place in Saturdays Skills Competition and Sundays All-Star Game, the cell phone bills of NHL GMs are likely going to spike in the next 31 days. The Canadian teams are no exception as some tough decisions will need to be made in the next few weeks. Which ones will be buyers at the deadline and which teams will be sellers? The Canucks appear poised for another long playoff run, so they would fall into the buyers category. General manager Mike Gillis will undoubtedly be shopping for those missing pieces that he hopes will improve the chances of winning the first Stanley Cup title in franchise history. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers are 14 points out of a playoff spot with 33 games remaining and general manager Steve Tambellini will likely be looking to trade away some roster players to acquire prospects and draft picks amid hopes of adding another cornerstone to the organization in June.  The surprising Ottawa Senators are currently in a playoff spot but that doesnt necessarily mean general manager Bryan Murray will be looking to make a blockbuster. "(Dealing) would come with one caveat," Senators owner Eugene Melnyk told The Ottawa Sun this week. "Lets not lose focus of what our job is: Thats to rebuild." But while the Senators are in the enviable position of enjoying some success during a rebuilding process, there are three Canadian teams in the Eastern Conference that dont want to entertain the idea of not making the playoffs this year. The Toronto Maple Leafs are tied for the final playoff spot while the Winnipeg Jets are just five points back but neither team has made the playoffs in the last five years. The Montreal Canadiens are eight points back of eighth place in the East but the expectation of playoff success may be higher there than anywhere else in the league. In the Western Conference, the 11th-place Calgary Flames are three points out of a playoff spot but appear ready to make a run at a playoff, especially after acquiring Michael Cammalleri from the Canadiens earlier this month. But an ill-timed slump could postpone that plan by another year and ignite rumours of some rebuilding moves. So which Canadian teams will be buyers and which ones will be sellers? Its Your Call. ATLANTA -- Gregg Popovich said he couldnt enjoy a lopsided win over longtime Spurs assistant Mike Budenholzer. Tim Duncan had 17 points and 16 rebounds in another dominant performance against Atlanta and San Antonio coasted to a 105-79 win over the short-handed Hawks on Friday night. Budenholzer, in his first season as the Hawks coach, was in the San Antonio organization for 19 years, including 17 as an assistant, and the last six as Popovichs top aide. Popovich said facing Budenholzer was difficult. "Actually, its no fun at all, to tell you the truth," Popovich said. "If you win, you feel bad. If you lose you always feel bad. Its a no-win when that happens." The Hawks, already short-handed without Pero Antic and DeMarre Carroll, lost point guard Jeff Teague to a left ankle sprain in the second period. Teague didnt return and is expected to miss at least two games. Boris Diaw led the Spurs with 21 points. Patty Mills, who made a career-high six 3-pointers, had 18 points. Cory Joseph started for Kawhi Leonard, who will miss three to four weeks with a broken bone in his right hand. Joseph had eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Leonard joined starting centre Tiago Splitter (sprained right shoulder) and former starter Danny Green (broken left index finger) on San Antonios injured list. Mills said it was "everyones mindset" to step up for the missing players. "Weve got big shoes to fill until everyone gets back," Mills said. "Guys go down, weve still got to stick to the game plan and we were able to do that tonight." The Hawks have an even longer injury list. Budenholzer said Teague will not be with the team for a two-game trip to Milwaukee and Oklahoma City. The Hawks play at Milwaukee on Saturday night. "We will hope that Jeff recovers quickly," Budenholzer said. Teague was leading the Hawks with nine points when he hurt his ankle by landing on Duncans foot. Teague then limped off the court. Even with Teague, the Hawks had only 10 players in uniform. They played their first game after losing Antic for two to four weekss with a stress fracture in his right ankle.dddddddddddd Antic had been the replacement for Al Horford, who was lost for the season when he tore his right pectoral muscle on Dec. 26. Carroll was held out with a mild strain to his left hamstring. Budenholzer said the Hawks cant focus on the injuries. "I think nobody else in the league cares if theres a mounting toll or what our injury status is," Budenholzer said. Paul Millsaps 15 points led the Hawks, who set a season scoring low. Duncan, who blocked four shots, and point guard Tony Parker didnt return after leaving the game with the Spurs leading 77-50 late in the third quarter. The Spurs used backup players in the fourth. Parker had 11 points and seven assists. Duncan, who had 23 points and 21 rebounds in the Spurs 102-100 win over the Hawks on Dec. 2 in San Antonio, enjoyed a strong start in the rematch. He blocked Millsaps shot on the Hawks first possession, then hit a jumper before blocking an attempt by Gustavo Ayon on Atlantas next attempt. The Hawks last lead was 7-6. Back-to-back baskets by Parker and Duncan gave San Antonio the lead for good. Mills sank three 3-pointers in the final minutes of the opening period to stretch the lead to 27-14. The Spurs kept the lead in double figures the remainder of the game. "It doesnt make us feel any better, but this is what they do," said Atlantas Kyle Korver. "Theyre a well-oiled machine." Korver scored his only points on a 3-pointer with about 6 minutes remaining in the first half. He extended his NBA record to 111 consecutive games with a 3-pointer. Budenholzer was called for a technical foul in the second quarter. NOTES: Popovich tied Red Auerbach for 10th place all-time with 938 wins. ... Duncan posted his 17th double-double of the season. ... The Hawks set their previous scoring low in an 83-80 loss to Houston on Jan. 10. ... The Spurs are 6-0 on the road against Eastern Conference teams. ... San Antonio signed G Othyus Jeffers to a 10-day contract. Jeffers averaged 22.8 points and 11.4 rebounds in 22 games with the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League this season. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

Jonathan Newsome Jersey .Y. - Henrik Lundqvist wasnt happy going into Game 6 against Montreal.September, October and November are my mesh months. My mesh months are those three months that CFL, NFL, CIS and NCAA football all mesh together. It is a busy time trying stay educated and aware on who is playing who, where, when, and how did everyone do in detail. Just like a football team, if I stay disciplined and trust the process in the end I am comfortable following eight CFL teams, 32 NFL teams, 26 CIS teams and (this is the tough one) 117 Division-1 college teams. But as long as I stay disciplined and trust the process, I do manage. Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings are unique in that trying to follow seven television sets is a skill within itself. At CTV/TSN we work in an area called "Studio 6", a place that everyone knows and references as the Main 6. It is an impressive place. About as big as half a football field in area, it has the best of the best in technology, audio and lighting to make our show work. And lots of TVs, all new TVs, all big TVs and one TV that is as tall and wide as a house. When you have that many TVs its tough to miss anything that goes on. On a Saturday we have the CFL game on three priority TVs, and six other TVs for college football - CIS and NCAA are stacked in the middle on what we call our TV trees. Three or maybe four pretty big flat screen TVs stacked upon each other side-by-side, eight feet high. One Sundays the CFL games are priority number one and are situated closest to us with six NFL games, one upon the other, constructed in vertical delight a yard or two back constructed within the tree concept. Years ago I would concentrate on just one game, the CFL game and delete all other distractions. But as time went on you lose your discipline and your mind wanders. Soon I found out I could actually watch two games and truly understand what was going on. My senssory acuity and anticipation was razor sharp in anticipation of breaks and therefore allowed my focus and attention to quickly switch from game A to B.dddddddddddd I actually began to respect commercials and look at them more as opportunities than delays. My mastery of two games was very gratifying but as my competence increased, my curiosity was activated. Could I possibly master three? To actually involve myself with three games and understand with intelligence the events unfolding in front of me. I felt like I was charting new grounds of accomplishment and my first attempt was frustrated and yes, I admit it. Intimidated. But I knew the skill was out there as I had heard of the "Mastery of the Three" from those before me. And much to my satisfaction and joy it is possible to conquer the "Three" if you stay persistent and above all, concentrate. The elusive three games at once is now a skill I cant say I have mastered but am no longer frustrated by. I dont know if my newly-developed skill can be transferred to any other aspect in life, but in Studio 6 it works for me. The key is to have the three games you want all within eyeball-easy distance. If you have to move your head back and forth the "neck fatigue" is intense and you never complete even a half of visual "Three game football". Every occupation teaches you skills. TV and radio have helped me in language, communication and even public speaking which I no longer fear. But I am not sure how being able to watch three football games at the same time is going to benefit me later in life. I mean it is all fast eyeball movement back and forth, which without all the TVs present would look pretty psychotic face to face. It may be one of those skills that has no secondary use. Oh well, use it while you got it I guess. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan fought back from two goals down but lost 4-2 at home to Parma after playing almost the entire Serie A match with 10 men on Sunday. Former Milan striker Antonio Cassano scored a brace, including a penalty after Rossoneri goalkeeper Christian Abbiati was sent off in the fifth minute for bringing down Ezequiel Schelotto. Adil Ramis header and a penalty from Mario Balotelli saw Milan pull level but Amauri and Jonathan Biabiany secured the win for Parma. It was the second successive match Milan has conceded four goals after its hefty Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. There were protests outside San Siro before and after the match, while Balotelli was booed almost every time he touched the ball. Balotelli was among a delegation from Milan which held a brief meeting with the ultras after the match. Milan coach Clarence Seedorf -- who was shown support during the match by the fans -- was also present. "They are always delicate situations," Seedorf said. "It was a peaceful meeting between people who have this shirt and this club in their hearts. We all want the best for this club in a period where things arent going well. "The meeting was very peaceful. There were also postive aspects because everyone has a great respect for this shirt. After (the 1-0 home defeat to) Atletico, the fans applauded the squad and the performance, we also need the results." Parma provisionally moved into fifth spot, two points ahead of Fiorentina which hosts Chievo Verona later. Serie A leader Juventus also plays this evening, at Genoa. Elsewhere, bottom club Sassuolo beat 19th-place Catania 3-1 and nine-man Livorno beat Bologna 2-1 in tense relegation battles. Bologna has replaced Livorno in the bottom three. Lazio won 2-0 at Catania while earlier Atalanta eased to a 3-0 win over Sampdoria. Milan got off to bad start when Abbiati came rushing out of his area and clattered into Schelotto. He was shown a straight red card and substitute goalkeeper Marco Amelias first task was to pick the ball out of the back of the net following Cassanos penalty. Balotelli almost levelled 10 minutes later but he sidefooted a corner off the base of the right post. Cassano doubled his tally five minutes into the second half as he was left in acres of space to control Afriyie Acquahs cross and fire home. Milan pulled one back shortly before the hour when substitute Rami got between two defenders to head in Kakas cross three minutes after coming off the bench. And Milan was surprisingly level in the 75th minute after Joel Obi was harshly judged to have brought down Riccardo Montolivo in the area and Balotelli converted the resulting penalty. However, Amauri backeeled Schelottos cross in moments later and Biabiany headed in seconds before the final whistle to ensure Parma extended its club record unbeaten run to 16 matches. Lazio remained five points behind Parma after its win at 10-man Cagliari. Lazio took the lead in the 19th minute as Miroslav Klose flicked on for Senad Lulic to race through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and fire past Vlada Avramov. Cagliari should have levelled in the 68th after Alvaro Gonzalez fouled Matias Vecino in the area but Mauricio Pinilla drove his penalty wide of the right post. Lazio sealed the match seconds later when Keita Balde drove Kloses through-ball into the bottom right corner. Cagliari captain Daniele Conti was then sent off for an elbow on Lucas Biglia. At the other end of the table, Sassuolo picked up its first win in nine matches. Catania, which had earlier hit the post, went in front on the half hour as Gonzalo Bergessio beat the offside trap and placed an angled drive into the far corner. Halftime substitute Simone Zaza levelled for Sassuolo, which took the lead when Simone Missiroli was allowed a free header on a corner. Sassuolo was dominating and Nicola Sansone sealed the match two minutes from time. Sassuolo swapped places with Catania at the foot of the standings and is three points from safety after Livornos win. Marco Benassi and Paulinho scored at the start of the second half but Ibrahima Mbaye was sent off with 10 minutes remaining after a second yellow card for handball. Innocent Emeghara was also dismissed for Livorno following another booking for a foul on Archimede Morleo five minutes from time and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos converted the resulting penalty. Livorno had squandered a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 last weekend, but held on for a vital three points. michael jordan chicago bulls jersey . On Tuesday, they did it again. The oft-injured Cleveland Indians outfielder is expected to miss eight to 12 weeks with a back injury, the latest medical setback for a three-time All-Star who once appeared to have a sensational career ahead of him. The team said Sizemore underwent a "minimally invasive" lower back procedure Thursday in Miami. He required a micro discectomy that was performed by Dr. Barth Green of the University of Miami School of Medicine. "Gradys obviously frustrated," general manager Chris Antonetti said in comments posted on MLB.com. "He wants more than anything to be out on the field contributing and helping the team win. This is a setback in his timetable for doing that, but I think he understands that, if he sees this process through and doesnt have setbacks along the way, he can still contribute for the majority of the season." Sizemore, who re-signed with the Indians in the off-season, will return to spring training in Arizona "in the coming days" to further his rehabilitation, the club said. "It will be an extensive rehab process," Antonetti said. "But we still are hopeful we will get him back for the bulk of the season." Sizemore was limited to 71 games last year, hitting .224 with 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and 34 runs scored. Hoping to bounce back with a healthy season, he was injured while fielding ground balls early in spring training. Before that, Indians trainer Lonnie Soloff said Sizemore had been doing well in his rehab from knee surgery and appeared on track to possibly begin the season on time. "I feel bad for him," manager Manny Acta said. "Obviously, it seems like he cant catch a break over the last couple of years." Cleveland re-signed Sizemore as a free agent in November after choosing not to exercise a $9 million option on him. But the Indians, perhaps out of some loyalty to Sizemore, decidedd to bring him back with a one-year, $5 million contract loaded with incentives that could have earned him an additional $4 million.dddddddddddd Sizemore has undergone five operations the past two years and played in only 210 games the last three seasons because of injuries. His full-speed-ahead style may have caught up with the 29-year-old, who once played in 382 consecutive games and endeared himself to Cleveland fans with hustle that could turn a double into a triple or save an extra-base hit with a crash into the outfield wall to make a catch. Sizemore also started last season on the disabled list. He made three trips to the DL and underwent right knee surgery on Oct. 3, just days after his season ended without a stolen base for the first time in his career. With Sizemore sidelined, the Indians will likely move Michael Brantley from left field to centre. Shelley Duncan, Aaron Cunningham, Ryan Spilborghs and Felix Pie are among the teams options in left. "Theres going to be plenty of at-bats to have out there," Acta said. "You might not have seen it as a big deal during the off-season, but now it looks pretty big when you have a full bag of guys like that who have been in the big leagues the last few years and have experience." The Indians, ravaged by injuries last season, have 12 other outfielders in camp. Cleveland opened last season 30-15 and played well in long stretches without Sizemore so theres reason to believe it can compete again. "Our scouts will continue to be out there evaluating other camps," Antonetti said. "Were always looking for ways to improve the roster, but we feel good about some of the guys that we already have in camp, and were looking forward to seeing some of them compete. "But, part of our responsibility is to make sure we understand who the alternatives are and if we have an opportunity to acquire them, and improve our roster, well certainly look to do that." cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

OAKLAND, Calif. -- With one eye on the defence and the other on the clock, LeBron James let the time tick down before carrying the Miami Heat into the All-Star break in a way only he could. James capped one of his best games of the season in dramatic fashion, making a step-back 3-pointer with less than a second remaining to propel the Heat past the Golden State Warriors 111-110 Wednesday night and into the break on a high note. "I was going for the win the whole time," James said. With teammate Dwyane Wade scratched from the lineup with a nerve irritation in his left foot, James shouldered the load for the two-time defending NBA champions. He finished with 36 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, saving his best moment for last. After James fellow All-Star Stephen Curry hit a bank shot to start a three-point play that put the Warriors ahead by two, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra chose not to call timeout. Instead, James got the ball in the half court and swished a 27-footer over Andre Iguodala with two-tenths of a second left. James stared into the stands, then patted his chest and high-stepped on the sideline, leaving the announced sellout crowd of 19,596 stunned and silent. "Better offence," James said, "beats better defence every time." James shot 14 of 26 from the floor, including several dazzling dunks, to help the Heat go ahead by 21 points in the third quarter. Chris Bosh added 19 points and five rebounds, and reserve Michael Beasley scored 16 points in a thrilling victory for Miami, which won without Wade for the second straight night. The Heat (37-14) head into the break 2 1/2 games behind Indiana (40-12) in the Eastern Conference. "I just told them in the locker room that if I had realized he was going to work that thing all the way down to the end of the clock, I would have ran out there and screamed timeout," Spoelstra said. "I tried to design something but once he started to wind it up I decided I better not break his rhythm and let a great player make a great play, make or miss, and thats what he did." Curry finished with 29 points and seven assists, and David Lee had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors (31-22), who rallied to take an 87-84 lead early in the fourth quarter before the teams traded baskets late. Golden State, which beat the Heat in Miami earlier this season, had no answer for the four-time NBA MVP this time. "That was like the ultimate buzz kill," Curry told teammates in the Warriors locker room. He could later be heard shouting "Wow!" from the showers. The biggest stars for both teams providing a fantastic finish. Iguodala lost the ball before gathering himself for a desperation, 18-foot fadeway with the shot clock about to expire, giving the Warriors a 105-104 lead. James answered with a 3-pointer over Klay Thompson, then Curry came back with a short jumper to tie the score again, and James followed by splitting a pair of free throws. As Lee came over to set a screen to his left, Curry drove to his right and banked a short jumper off the glass while getting fouled by Mario Chalmers to start a three-point play with 14.6 seconds to play, lifting the Warriors ahead 110-108 -- and seemingly for good. James quickly changed that. He dribbled just in front of Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob sitting courtside and hit the contested 3-pointer over Iguodala, breaking into celebration to put the exclamation point on Miamis win. The Warriors didnt have enough time to get a shot off on the final possession. The shot capped a breathtaking performance by James when the Heat needed it most. Wade also sat out Miamis win Tuesday night at Phoenix with a migraine headache. He was listed at his usual shooting guard spot and announced during pregame introductions, but seconds before tipoff the Heat said he would not play. Wade said hes not sure if hell be able to play in Sundays All-Star game in New Orleans. The Warriors, who were coming off a 123-80 rout of Philadelphia on Monday, were without centres Andrew Bogut (bruised left shoulder) and Jermaine ONeal (sore right wrist). Any time Golden State started to take control, though, there was no lineup that could stop James. "We witnessed greatness," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "A special player, an all-time great, made a big-time shot." NOTES: Some sort of glass object fell on the floor near the Heats basket in the third quarter. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- With Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus struggling at the plate, Texas manager Ron Washington enjoyed watching a couple of home runs from two of the few players in his lineup who were hitting .300 or better. Shin-Soo Choo and Alex Rios homered in the sixth inning against winless Hector Santiago, and the Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 Friday night to end a four-game losing streak. The only other time this season that the Rangers had two home runs in one inning was April 15, when Fielder and Kevin Kouzmanoff went back-to-back to start the second against Seattles Blake Beavan in a 5-0 win at Arlington. "It was certainly something that we needed. We were able to string some offence together and put some runs on the board," Washington said. "I dont think you can play this game relying on home runs. But I think the more at-bats the guys (have) that are supposed to hit it out of the ballpark, the more theyll get." Choo added an RBI single in the seventh and Colby Lewis (2-1) pitched 5 2-3 innings, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out six. The right-hander, making his fourth start after missing 1 1/2 seasons because of operations on his elbow and hip, was lifted after issuing his only walk. "I was able to throw the fastball where I needed to, my changeup was really good and I was able to command my pitches," Lewis said. "But I ran into that dumb walk in the sixth. The bullpen came in and stepped up and was huge tonight to solidify the win for me, so hats off to them. Theyve been taxed, and I was hoping to go deep into the game and give them a little bit of a break." It was the fourth straight game in which a Rangers starter failed to get through the sixth. Lewis was working on an extra day of rest after the rotation was set up to have him avoid next weeks interleague series in Colorado, where he would have to bat. Joakim Soria, the sixth Rangers pitcher, worked a perfect ninth for his seventh save. Choo left in the seventh because of soreness on the outside of his left ankle. Santiago (0-5) was charged with five runs and seven hits in six-plus innings. The left-hander, who has a 5.01 ERA in six starts, was replaced by Kevin Jepsen with a 3-2 deficit. Choo then singled home Leonys Martin, and Michael Choice crossed the plate with the Rangers fifth run as third baseman Ian Stewart fielded Andrus grounder and hit Choice with his throw home. "I think hes going to be fine," catcher Hank Conger said of Santiago. "Physically, it wont take much. Mentally, it does start to creep into pitchers minds. But hes been throwing good bullpens and hes been upbeat. "He knows he wants to get that first win off his back. But I think this experience is going to be a good test for him, and a good challenge for him to try to harness what he took out of this start and take it into the next one." Angels third baseman David Freese left with what was described as a bruise on the middle finger of his right hand after he was hit by an 0-2 pitch in the third. Postgame X-rays revealed a small, non-displaced fracture. The 2011 World Series MVP, acquired in a November trade with St. Louis, is batting .202 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 84 at-bats. Texas was trailing 2-0 when Choo drove Santiagos first pitch of the sixth just beyond the reach of centre fielder Mike Trout to end a six-game home run drought by the Rangers -- who hit 26 against the Angels last year while winning the season series 15-4 over their NL West rivals. "They have a good lineup, with a good mix of power guys and a couple of guys that can set the table for them," Conger said. "Tonight it was just two pitches that really turned the game around." Two outs later, Fielder reached on an infield single and Rios sent a 2-1 pitch into the rock pile in left-centre for his second of the season. Angels No. 9 hitter J.B. Shuck, fighting a 2-for-30 slump, drove in the games first run with a two-out bunt single that hugged the third base line all the way to the bag. After a dominant first in which the Bruins scored only once on 18 shots, Boston overcame sloppiness in the second and scored three times en route to a 6-3 victory Monday night. The line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith combined for three goals and six assists to power the Bruins offence that has scored 12 goals in two games. "Were expected to do a job out there," said Marchand, who had a goal and three assists. "We got contributions from every line. Thats how we win games and what makes us so tough to play against." The Bruins have had trouble with the Islanders this season, dropping the first two meetings before avoiding a series sweep Monday. Boston, which has won four of five (4-0-1), is not used to a speed game. The Islanders used that element to offset the bigger Bruins, who took four leads before putting New York away. "It wasnt the type of game that we like to play," said Bergeron, who had a goal and an assist. "They are a team that likes that. That run-and-gun type of game is not really our style." Loui Eriksson, Carl Soderberg and hulking defenceman Zdeno Chara added goals for the Bruins. Chad Johnson gave Tuukka Rask the night off and made 34 saves. Charas goal 8:12 into the third made it 6-3 and chased Kevin Poulin from the net in favour of Evgeni Nabokov, who came off the injured list earlier Monday following his second groin injury. The goal was the 500th NHL point for Chara, chosen by the Islanders in the third round of the 1996 draft. "I am very fortunate to play in this league for so many years," Chara said. "Points have always been secondary in my view, but if I can contribute offensively it is a big plus." Kyle Okposo, moved off the top line, had a goal and two assists for the Islanders, and Frans Nielsen and Michael Grabner also scored for New York, which lost its third straight (0-2-1) heading into its outdoor game at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday against the Rangers. Poulin made 30 saves. "We played well but didnt bury enough changes," Okposo said. "We have to get over this loss and come back strong against the Rangers." The Bruins recorded 18 of the first 20 shots. Erikssson made it 1-0 at 7:47 when he scored his sixth goal and first in 12 games, dating to Nov.dddddddddddd 25. Momentum shifted with 7:50 left in the first when the Islanders received their first power play. They didnt convert, but found their game. The Islanders got four of their 12 first-period shots during that power play and got even when Nielsen netted his 18th goal with 4:31 left. New York started the second period on the power play after Chara took a penalty for throwing a retaliation punch at Cal Clutterbuck. But again the Islanders fell behind. Marchand made it 2-1 at 4:50 when he took a pass in the left circle from Bergeron and lifted in a shot. The Islanders answered again, taking advantage of a turnover in the Boston zone by Gregory Campbell. During a delayed penalty, Okposo made a pass into the middle to Grabner for his ninth goal and second in three games, scored at 8:20. "That power play really gave them momentum, and we finished on our heels in the first," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "From that point on until the end of the second period, I thought we got really sloppy and shot ourselves in the foot." The Bruins went ahead 3-2 at 12:21 during another delayed penalty. Shawn Thorntons pass hit New Yorks Matt Martin and caromed to Smith, who tapped in his 17th goal. Another Bruins breakdown cost Boston the lead again. Defenceman Dougie Hamilton leaped at the blue line to knock down a puck, but missed. The speedy Grabner took off and was joined by Okposo, who came out of the penalty box. They came in on a 2-on-0 break and passed the puck back and forth before Okposo slammed in his 23rd goal with 4:52 left. It appeared the teams would be tied to start the third, but Soderberg steamed in on the right wing, got around defenceman Thomas Hickey and beat Poulin with 32.7 seconds remaining. The Bruins posted their first two-goal lead when Bergeron slammed in a feed from Marchand at 2:17 of the third. "We cant panic," said Islanders captain John Tavares, who had a six-game point streak snapped. "Have to trust each other in this room." NOTES: Okposo has seven goals and eight assists since his daughter was born earlier this month. ... The Islanders activated D Lubomir Visnovsky off the injured list. ... "Maybe its a good omen," Jimmy Howard said after finishing off a shutout that Jonas Gustavsson started in a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night. Justin Abdelkader scored early in the second period and again in the final seconds after Howard made 16 saves over the final two periods and Gustavsson stopped eight shots in the first. Howard also stopped David Booths penalty shot in the second. It was the first time Detroit had a combined shutout since Oct. 27, 2001, when Manny Legace and Dominik Hasek did it in a 1-0 win at Nashville, according to STATS. Gustavsson started, but couldnt play in the second or third because of dizziness. "I guess hes fine," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. The Canucks had coach John Tortorella behind their bench and forward Henrik Sedin on the ice after both missed six games. Tortorella was suspended for 15 days by the NHL for his conduct after a brawl in a game against the Calgary Flames. Tortorella went to Calgarys locker room following the first period, which began with several fights. "Whats happened was deserved," Tortorella said. "I hope it makes me a better coach, but it certainly doesnt stop the situations Ive put a lot of other people in, especially my other coaches." Sedin had been out since he was unable to finish the Jan. 18 game against Calgary because of an upper-body injury. He and his brother, Daniel, extended their goal-scoring droughts to 16 games. That matches the longest stretch of games the Sedins have played without either one of them scoring since 2002, according to STATS. "Obviously, theyre a big part of their team," said Detroits Henrik Zetterberg, who will team up with the Sedins for Sweden at the Olympics. "If you keep them in check, you have a good chance of winning the game." The Red Wings wanted to rest Howard, who had played two straight games following a four-game absence after aggravating a left knee injury, but he was forced into action. Howard helped Detroit keep its slim leaad early in the second period when he denied Booths penalty shot.dddddddddddd "I thought our best forward was David Booth, which is good for him but not good for us," Tortorella said. The Canucks went on a power play for the fourth time 5:29 into the third period, but didnt take advantage. They had an extra skater again when Detroit had too many men on the ice with 4:37 left in the game. It turned into a 4-on-3 advantage when players from both teams were called for a penalty, but Vancouver couldnt convert. "We looked like a slow hockey team tonight," Tortorella said. "Were going to keep banging and trying to get better. ... It worries me, it really worries me." Eddie Lack, starting a second straight game in place of Roberto Luongo, made 28 saves. Lack gave up what appeared to be a soft goal, failing to stop a long shot from Abdelkader with his blocker, but helped Vancouver stay within a goal when Detroit had a 5-on-3 power play midway through the second period. Lack also made three straight stops when Darren Helm had chances to score during Vancouvers final power play, including one sprawling stop in which he dove and got some of his glove on the puck. "The way hes keeping us in games, you want to score some goals for him," Vancouvers Jannik Hansen said. "We just couldnt find a way to get it done." The Canucks pulled Lack late in the game to add an extra skater, but teammate Alexandre Burrows was called for cross-checking with 38.7 seconds left. Abdelkader sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 15.7 seconds remaining. "His confidence is growing," Babcock said. "Hes making more plays with the puck." REGINA - Rob Bagg has been with the Roughriders long enough to know that football is always a hot topic in Regina. Saskatchewan is coming off a 48-15 blowout loss to the Toronto Argonauts last week. As a result, countless hours of radio talk-show banter and roundtable discussions were devoted to the surprising rout as the highly scrutinized Roughriders fell to 1-1. "Any time you lose youre going to be frustrated or disappointed, all of those natural feelings," Bagg said. "But it is a six-month season and just like every play, you have to reload and move on to the next one. "Were playing B.C. this week and theres nothing we can do about what happened in Toronto." Saskatchewan made some significant moves in preparation for Saturdays home game against the winless B.C. Lions (0-2). Catch the game live on TSN as the back end of a doubleheader starting at 10pm et/7pm pt.  Less than 48 hours after the loss to the Argos, the Riders dealt veteran halfback Dwight Anderson to Toronto. On Wednesday, the Riders signed former 1,000-yard rusher Jerome Messam. The 29-year-old Messam, who was cut by the Montreal Alouettes last month, is expected to dress for Saturdays game. The transactions have created a buzz in what has been anything but a calm week for the defending Grey Cup champions. "We knew after Week 1 that we were in for a test (in Toronto)," said Riders defensive end John Chick. "They had a rough week the week before and we knew they were going to come back corrected. They were better prepared in all areas than what we were. "Its nothing about the sky falling here or anything like that. Its about making corrections. We expect perfection and we expect to be a championship team. A performance like last week makes us realize that we have some work to do." Second-year Riders defensive back Macho Harris will take Andersons starting spot in the secondary, while Messam should get his feet wet on special teams versus the Lions. Meanwhile, running back Hugh Charles will get the starting assignment over Anthony Allen, who has started the previous two weeks. Allen leads the CFL in rushing with 224 yards but has fumbled in each of the first two games this season. Tristan Black has been pushing starter Sam Hurl at the weakside linebacker position this week at practice and should see more playing time versus the Lions. Slotback Chris Getzlaf wont play Saturday because of a nagging quadriceps injury and fullback Neal Hughes wont dress because of a foot injury. Riders head coach Corey Chamblin is optimistic his team has moved on from the lopsided loss and is taking in stride the bevy of roster changes ahead of the B.C. game. He likes what he has seen at practice this week. "I was pleased with their energy and I was pleased with their execution," Chamblin said. "Theyre bouncing back, theyre not looking back and theyre moving forward. Guys are starting to become leaders, new guys are starting to become more vocal and theyre starting to open up and trust one another. "Before long, well have the makings of a good team." The Riders expect a hungry Lions team that has dropped its first two games of the season, most recently a 24-9 defeat to the Montreal Alouettes. Quarterback Kevin Glenn, who is filling in for Travis Lulay, has thrown six interceptions in those two losses and running back Andrew Harris has just 63 rushing yards over that span. Both the Lions and Riders will be looking to bounce back from poor performances in Week 2. "Its never as bad as you think it was and its never as good as you think it was," Bagg said. "Most of what happened (in Toronto) didnt have anything to do with the plays. It was more to do with poor execution … and we just need to work better individually and that will take care of itself as a whole." Clyde Drexler Blazers Jersey . VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks got into the spirit of the Heritage Classic on Saturday. The Canucks donned vintage maroon, red and beige uniforms as they practised on a makeshift rink at B.C. Place Stadium in preparation for Sundays outdoor game against the Ottawa Senators. The Senators were scheduled to skate later Saturday. First, the Canucks wore the replica Vancouver Millionaires jerseys and posed for a team picture. Then they switched into practice uniforms with goalies and forwards in maroon red and defencemen in grey. Coach John Tortorella and his staff wore maroon sweatsuits. But goalies Roberto Luongo and Eddie Lack had the best-looking stuff. Luongo wore a maroon mask adorned with a beige "V" and the word Vancouver on it. He also sported faux-leather brown pads and gloves. Lack wore a similar mask with maroon and beige pads and gloves, he will draw the start for the Canucks on Sunday. Lack will be making his third consecutive start for the Canucks since the Olympic break on Sunday. He posted a 20 save shutout against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday before falling to the Minnesota Wild in a shootout on Friday. Luongo has not played since returning from backing up Carey Price for Team Canada at Sochi 2014. Players are hoping the stadium roof will be open Sunday as it was on a partly cloudy Saturday. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for coastal B.C. on Sunday with five to 10 centimetres expected inland and at higher elevations in Metro Vancouver. But in case the weather forecast is wrong, the field has already been covered with artificial snow. Paul George Jerseys . Ujiri and Leiweke unveiled plans on Friday for the $30-million practice facility that will be built on the grounds of Exhibition Place, pending a city council vote on Wednesday. The deal for the 65,000 square-foot facility, which is set to open in time for the 2016 NBA all-star game in Toronto, was approved unanimously by the citys executive committee on Wednesday. "One of the major reasons were building this is to keep our guys, so for a guy like Kyle Lowry (who signed a multi-year deal in July), he knows exactly what were doing here and that was important to his thinking about the commitment that this ownership group has made toward our basketball team," said Leiweke, the outgoing CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. MLSEs soccer club Toronto FC practises at the KIA Training Ground just north of downtown Toronto, while the MasterCard Centre just west of downtown is the training home of hockeys Maple Leafs and Marlies. The Raptors practise and play at the ACC, where players have the added off-day hassle of concert crowds or hockey games, and the training room is so small that Ujiri said three players getting treatment is a crowd. Ujiri and his staff took a peek in top facilities across North America to gather ideas. "We took ideas from everybody," said the Raptors GM. "Masai turned out to be a really good thief," Leiweke added. "We visited the best facilities in football and basketball, pro and college, and I think I went to maybe five or six of them. I know combined, my whole staff, we probably went to 12 or 13 of them, which is awesome," Ujiri said. "We get to see the University of Oregon, its spectacular, you cant even believe thats a college. You go to some of these facilities, you go to the Clevelands (the Cavaliers training ground), you go to the University of Virginias. . . theres some really good new high-performance centres that you can really take a lot out of." The two-storey facility will be avvailable for groups such as the Ontario Basketball Association and Canada Basketball, and its been a long time coming, said Leiweke and Ujiri, for a basketball-mad city that has boasted the last two NBA No.dddddddddddd 1 draft picks in Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins. Leiweke arrived in Toronto from Los Angeles, where "you have all these great meccas" of basketball such as the Lakers Toyota Training Centre and USCs Pauley Pavilion. "Now name me what people think of when they talk about the great breeding grounds, the great facilities when you think about Bennett and Wiggins and all those kids playing," Leiweke said. "And Canada Basketball has no home," he added. "They are vagabonds. This gives us a place ultimately to make a statement about what kids can aspire to be and where they want to play. I think this will have as big an impact on amateur basketball as it will on what (Ujiri) is trying to do with the Raptors." Opening its doors in time for the all-star game was key. "For the guys (Ujiri) wants to get here, whoever that might be, theyre all going to be here during all-star week. It is great we get to showcase this to an entire league in 2016, and that bodes very well in making people understand the kind of organization we aspire to be now," Leiweke said. "Its huge to keep players and to get players." Leiweke met with the media a day after he confirmed he was leaving his job as CEO of MLSE as of next June at the latest, but said he didnt regret the timing of the announcement. "I think the reason were doing this today is to prove that this is business as usual, we plow straight ahead, and anyone that has been in this organization for the past 16 months and has seen what were doing here, what they understand very clearly is that ripple caused more of a ripple in the media and the public," Leiweke said. "But internally here, we plow straight ahead and we are as damned and determined as every to finish our mission statement here. "So there will be not one change in our attitude and that wont change in our commitment and our dedication to getting our projects done, and this is one of my highest priorities." cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- As the injury list continues to grow for the Memphis Grizzlies, reserves like Jon Leuer are seizing the opportunities they get. Leuer scored 16 points and grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds Monday night to help the short-handed Grizzlies build an early lead and hold on to defeat the Orlando Magic 94-85. "Weve had a lot of guys go down," Leuer said. "It obviously makes it tough, but it opens up other opportunities for guys to come in and contribute." Memphis reserves outscored their Orlando counterparts 38-4, helping send the Magic to their sixth straight loss. The Grizzlies bench players are getting more playing time as injuries to four key players left only nine available against Orlando. Memphis centre Marc Gasol is out indefinitely with a knee injury, while Ed Davis (ankle) and Tony Allen (hip) also sat out. Earlier in the day, the Grizzlies announced guard/forward Quincy Pondexter will miss significant time, possibly the rest of the season, with a right foot stress fracture. "Guys are stepping up. Thats what we need. We need everybody now," said Memphis forward Zach Randolph, who led the Grizzlies with 19 points and matched Leuers 12 boards, part of Memphis 52-35 rebounding advantage. Mike Conley had 13 points for Memphis and Jerryd Bayless finished with 11 points, including a late 3-pointer to preserve the win and end a two-game slide. Conley also had seven assists. The Magic were missing centre Nikola Vucevic, their leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, who missed his fourth straight game with a sprained left ankle. "The good thing is these bumps are coming early as far as tough losses and guys not being healthy," said Magic centre Glen Davis, who had 16 points and nine rebounds. "If we can get guys healthy and learn to stay together, we can overcome these obstacles." Andrew Nicholson and Jameer Nelson led the Magic with 19 points apiece. Nicholson also grabbed 11 rebounds while hitting 8 of 12 from the field. Arron Afflalo scored 17 points and Victor Oladipo added 10. Jason Maxiell was Orlandos sole reserve to score, getting four points. Memphis, which led by as many as 23 in the game, held a 14-point lead with just over 7 minutes left, but had to withstand a final push from the Magic. "There is always a point in the game that you can give in, or you can choose to rally around each other and try to fight," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said. "We put a group out on the floor that gave us a chance to do that. They gave us a chance to win." The short bench didnt seem to faze Memphis in the first half. The Grizzlies used 19 unanswered points spanning the first and second quarters to take a 51-30 lead at the break. While Memphis was going on its 19-0 run, the Magic went almost 7 minutes without scoring. Nicholson did his best to pull the Magic back into the game, scoring 13 points in the third. That allowed Orlando to pull within 10 before Jamaal Franklins 3-pointer at the horn gave Memphis a 73-60 lead entering the final quarter. But the Magic continued to push behind Afflalo, whose seven early points in the final frame included a pair of free throws with 4:19 left to get Orlando within 85-78. The run eventually would reach 12-2, and the Magic were within 87-83. But Randolph scored the next three points, and the Grizzlies weathered the rally for only their second win in the last seven home games. "Its tough. Its real tough," Randolph said of the injuries. "Weve got to just come out and play. Everyone has to step up like theyve been doing." NOTES: Franklin had a career-high eight points. ... SEATTLE -- Less than a week ago, nothing was going right for Kyle Seager and the Mariners. Since then Seager just keeps hitting home runs and Seattle has started to see some wins. Seager hit a pair of homers Sunday, including a three-run shot in the eighth, to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 6-5 comeback win against the Texas Rangers. Seager has five homers in his last four games, a power surge that started with a two-homer game against the Astros on Wednesday. Before that game, Seager was hitting .156 with no home runs and two RBI, a slump that matched the teams performance -- Seattle lost its eighth straight game Tuesday. In the four games since, hes gone 8 for 15, added five homers and 11 RBI and raised his season average to .228 while the Mariners have won three of the four. Hes also had at least two hits in all four games, tying a career-best streak. "Its been a good run. I think if you continue to stay with the program and not panic, hopefully itll come around sooner or later," Seager said. "Its been feeling good for a little while. The results obviously werent what I was hoping for, but it was starting to come around." The Mariners fell behind 5-0 to Texas early before Seager led the late rally. Seager led off the seventh inning with his first home run and then gave Seattle the lead with his two-out shot down the right field line in the eighth off Alexi Ogando (1-2). "Theres nothing like positive results," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "When you start to get some positive results you feel better about what youre doing and how youre doing it." The comeback victory also gave the Mariners their first home series win against Texas since September 2012. The homers more than made up for an earlier missed opportunity, when Seager struck out with the bases loaded to end the fourth inning. "I thought we had him for a minute," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "I thought he was slumping. But I guess hes not." Danny Farquhar (1-0) pitched the eighth to earn the win and Fernando Rodney closed out the ninth for his fifth save. Rangers starter Matt Harrison made his first appearance in more than a year, giving up two runs on three hits in six innings. Harrison was acttivated from the disabled list before the game to make his first appearance since April 6, 2013.dddddddddddd Harrison was the Rangers opening day starter last season but only pitched two games before going on the disabled list with an inflamed nerve in his lower back. He had two back surgeries in a nine-day span a year ago, and another surgery on his right side in September. He battled stiffness in his back and neck during spring training, starting the season on the disabled list. "Glad to be back," Harrison said. "Its been a long road." Harrison had no problems in the first three innings, retiring the first nine batters he faced. But a lengthy top of the fourth -- the Rangers had eight batters and scored three runs to take the 5-0 lead -- seemed to affect Harrison as he came out for the bottom of the inning. Harrison walked Michael Saunders to lead off the fourth, and Robinson Cano got the Mariners first hit with a one-out, run-scoring double. Harrison gave up another single and a walk to load the bases with two outs before Seagers strikeout. Harrison gave up another run in the sixth when Cano singled and later scored on Harrisons wild pitch to cut the Rangers lead to 5-2. Seattle starter Brandon Maurer was knocked out in the fourth inning after giving up five runs on seven hits, but the Mariners bullpen -- Seattle used six pitchers on the day -- gave up just one hit the rest of the way. "They saved us," McClendon said. "Its hard to win games when your bullpen is giving you four, five innings. Its hard to win, and they shut it down. They threw up zeros." NOTES: McClendon gave his usual Nos. 1 and 2 hitters -- OF Abraham Almonte and SS Brad Miller -- the day off. Both players have been struggling offensively, with Almonte hitting .204 and Miller .174. "Well give them both some time off and hopefully theyll bounce back," McClendon said. ... Texas optioned IF Luis Sardinas to Double-A Frisco before the game. There had been speculation the Rangers would place OF Shin-Soo Choo, who hasnt played since his hurting his left ankle at Oakland on Monday, on the DL to make room for Harrison. Washington said the Rangers are waiting to see if Choo will be able to play soon. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Anze Kopitar broke a long scoreless drought for Los Angeles and Jonathan Quick earned his third shutout of the season to help the Kings snap a five-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Kopitars goal late in the second period ended a stretch of more than 154 minutes without a score for the Kings, who avoided their first six-game skid since December 2007. They did it with defence as Quick needed to make only 23 saves, stopping a flurry in the final seconds to seal the win. The game ended a streak of 15 straight games between the California rivals that were won by the home team, including all seven contests in last years second-round playoff series won by the Kings. Los Angeles had dropped nine straight in San Jose since winning Game 5 of a first-round series in 2011 and had not won a regular season game here since Dec. 27, 2010. Alex Stalock made 20 saves for the Sharks, who had won six straight games. But he got little offensive help as San Jose got just nine shots the first two periods and came up empty on three power plays to lose at home in regulation for just the third time all season. The Kings broke their scoreless drought late in the second period on a nifty move by Kopitar. Brent Burns deflected a pass from Jeff Carter to a streaking Kopitar. But Kopitar still managed to gather it and stopped just outside the crease to make Stalock commit before tucking it into the net to give Los Angeles the lead with 2:05 remaining in the second period. The goal was the first for Los Angeles since Kopitar scored early in the first period of a 2-1 loss at Anaheim last Thursday night, ending a scoreless stretch of 154:43. It also ended Stalocks franchise-record scoreless streak at 178:55 for San Jose. The Sharks, limited to seven shots at that point, generated more pressure after falling behind with Quick making a good save against Bracken Kearns and San Jose drawing a late penalty against Willie Mitchell. But the Kings killed off that penalty that carried over into the third period. They negated another power play when Joe Thornton was called for hooking 16 seconds into Slava Voynovs cross-checking penalty and then got a strong save from Quick against Joe Pavelski midway through the third to preserve the lead. It was a typical tight defensive start to the game between two of the leagues stingiest teams with a combined 12 shots in a scoreless first period. While the Sharks had a season-low four shots in the period, they did have the best scoring chance when Quick made a sprawling glove save to rob Kearns on the backhand early with most of the net open. The Kings had two good chances late with Stalock stopping Kopitar alone in front with a shoulder save and Mike Richards hitting the post on a one-timer in the closing seconds. NOTES: The Sharks lost their second 1-0 home game this month, falling to Boston on Jan. 11. ... Stalock broke the record held by Evgeni Nabokov, who went 171:18 without allowing a goal in January 2009. ... No problem.ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- From his catchy nickname to his sturdy performance on the field, Calvin Johnson often seems indestructible. So it was a bit startling when the star wide receiver was limited by injuries toward the end of last season, finally sitting out the finale after his Detroit Lions were eliminated from playoff contention. Johnson had surgery in the off-season on a knee and a finger, both of which caused problems for him in 2013. He still put up terrific numbers for the Lions, but he was held under 100 yards in the last three games he played and couldnt prevent the collapse that kept Detroit out of the post-season. On Tuesday, "Megatron" was out on the practice field, preparing for what he hopes will be a healthier, more successful season. "It feels great to be out here playing with the guys," Johnson said. "I missed a lot of practice time last year before games. You definitely feel like you need that practice time before a game, just to get on one accord with your quarterback." Johnson caught 84 passes for 1,492 yards last season -- great stats for almost any player, but his worst output in both categories since 2010. It was never entirely clear how much Johnsons knee was bothering him, but then-coach Jim Schwartz conceded in late December that the star receiver was nowhere near 100 per cent. "It was bad enough where I had to get it drained every week," Johnson said. "The finger, it was stuck at 90 degrees. Its good to have those things freed up." The Lions fired Schwartz and replaced him with Jim Caldwell in the off-season, meaning Detroit is implementing a new offence. Quarterback Matthew Stafford will be under pressure to limit the mistakkes that plagued him last year -- and he should have an easier time if Johnson is back at full strength.dddddddddddd Although Johnson missed only two games last season, he wasnt able to practice all that regularly. That time is valuable even for a veteran who will turn 29 in September. "You kind of lose your wind a little bit. You know the plays, but I feel that you have to go out there and practice to be able to play at your best," Johnson said. "Im a firm believer in that. I had experience in the offence, therefore I was able to go out there and still play, but Im a firm believer that being out there during the week definitely improves your performance on Sunday." With Nate Burleson no longer on the Lions, Johnson is now the elder statesmen of Detroit wide receivers, and hes always led by example. Its easier to do that, of course, when hes healthy enough to practice. "Its nice to have him back and working at full strength. Im so happy for him," centre Dominic Raiola said. "The guys so tough. Its hard to get him out of there. Hell play through anything. For him to be healthy right now and being out there with the team, thats big time." NOTES: Caldwell said injured CB Chris Houston has been excused from practice. Rookie WR T.J. Jones, the teams sixth-round draft pick, was also excused Tuesday. ... Caldwell joked a bit about his reputation for remaining even-keeled. "Theres no need for a whole lot of cussing, screaming, yelling and all that kind of stuff," Caldwell said. Jose Goncalves scored the only goal in the 31st minute as the New England Revolution downed the listless Impact 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, extending Montreals winless run to five games. The Impact (13-11-7), who were on top of the league in June with a 9-3-2 record, began the day in a playoff position in fourth place, but the race got tighter after losing a third home game in a row. They have three games remaining in the regular season, including a match Wednesday night in Los Angeles and a must-win game at home next Saturday against Philadelphia. A victory against the Revolution would have greatly strengthened the Impacts hopes of reaching the post-season in only their second year in MLS, but they came out flat. New England (12-11-9) had the lions share of scoring chances and allowed Montreal few opportunities. "I think were all a little bit shocked," said Montreal captain Davy Arnaud. "Considering how big the game was, something was missing. "We werent ourselves. We just didnt have our normal urgency going forward to get chances. We lost some duels we normally win at home. I cant put my finger on it." Montreal will play in Los Angeles without Arnaud or defender Matteo Ferrari, who each will serve one-game suspensions for picking up their fifth yellow card. Coach Marco Schallibaum and the players spoke all week of the importance of beating New England, but they werent in the game from the opening kick-off. "We werent good today," said Schallibaum, whose team has one of a possible 15 points from its last five matches. "We didnt get much penetration in the box. "It was more in the head than in the legs. Now we have to pick ourselves up and get ready for the next game." Arnaud was at the centre of a grim moment in the 19th minute when New England forward Sene Sene was wheeled off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital with what the Revolution later said was a dislocated left ankle and broken left fibula. The less than sellout crowd of 18,917 went silent when Sene went down after going for a ball in the Montreal penalty area. His foot got caught between Arnauds legs and appeared to snap. It was pointing the wrong way as he lay on the pitch in agony. "I feel really bad about what happened," said Arnaud. "It looks like its a really bad injury. "I think it was a good tackle.dddddddddddd I won the ball clean, but his foot might have got caught underneath me. You never want to see that happen. I still feel bad about it. I hope hes OK." No foul was called as Arnaud got to the ball first. "You run into situations on the field that are bigger than the game," said Revolution coach Jay Heaps. "Everyones heart went out to him. "Its devastating for both teams. But the response from our guys -- you just felt there would be a moment when our guys had a chance to make a play. We got that goal almost 10 minutes after that incident, so I was really happy with that." Juan Agudelo just missed heading in a free kick, but New England got the ball back for Diego Fagundez to slip it across the area for Goncalves to score his second of the season. The New England defence did the rest as they clogged up the middle of the field and allowed league scoring leader Marco Di Vaio and his Impact teammates few looks at goal. The win stretched the Revolutions unbeaten string to four games and kept their playoff hopes alive. "It was crucial," said Heaps. "We knew these three (points) were the most important because they were pulling away. "Now its anyones ball game here for the last two (playoff) spots. Thats all you can ask for." The Impact got some life after bringing in three substitutes early in the second half but New England still got the best chance on a Chris Tierney free kick that went off the crossbar. The Impact have a handful of players playing through minor injuries, including Di Vaio, Patrice Bernier and Justin Mapp. But Arnaud dismissed the notion that the Impact, an older than average team, is wearing down at the end of the season. He feels they just need a spark to feel young again. "You need a positive result to get you back on track," he said. "When youre so close and you feel youre almost there in the post-season and things arent going well, you just need a bounce, something to go your way. "Maybe scrape out a win you dont deserve. Something that can turn things around." Notes: Alessandro Nesta returned to Montreals lineup after missing two games with a groin injury and Hernan Bernardello was back after sitting out five contests with a sprained ankle. Sanna Nyassi moved into the starting 11 in place of Felipe Martins. Maxim Tissot replaced injured fullback Jeb Brovsky. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

Lured away from USC in 2010 with the chance at complete control over the football operations, Carroll tore down then rebuilt the Seahawks roster into one of the best in the NFL. Hes 38-26 in four regular seasons with Seattle and 5-2 in the playoffs. Carroll has made competition the benchmark of his time in Seattle. Its why quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Richard Sherman have become stars -- because they were given opportunities in Carrolls system. Carroll, 62, is the second oldest coach in the NFL, but rarely appears his age. He came to Seattle because of the chance he didnt have in his two previous stops as an NFL head coach: control. Seattle gave him the reins to the franchise, and hired him before adding general manager John Schneider to the mix, a relationship that has been marked by stability and success. Carroll lacked control in his previous positions with New England and the New York Jets. But after a decade of winnning with the Trojans and having that control, it was something Carroll demanded if he was going to get back into the professional ranks and the Seahawks were willing.dddddddddddd Seattle also let Carroll imprint his attitude on the locker room. He wanted a fun atmosphere filled with accountability. Competition was at the crux of everything Carroll did from the day he inherited a 5-11 team. Carroll took Seattle to the playoffs in his first season despite a 7-9 regular season record. The Seahawks plateaued in 2011 going 7-9 again but took a jump in 2012 after drafting Wilson. The Seahawks went 11-5 in the regular season and reached the divisional round of the playoffs. The roster turnover had been completed and there were massive expectations going into 2013. Seattle matched and surpassed those expectations. Carroll guided Seattle to 13 wins in the regular season, the NFC West title and home-field advantage in the playoffs. Seattle knocked off New Orleans in the divisional round, then edged San Francisco in the NFC title game to reach its second Super Bowl. At the Super Bowl, Carroll got to celebrate the way he did watching USCs run of dominance in the mid-2000s. Seattles defence stifled the highest scoring offence in NFL history, humbling Denver in a 43-8 beating to give Seattle its first title. After the season Carroll sounded as if he was locked in to a long future with the Seahawks. "Were trying to do something really good for a really long time and we want to see how far we can go and someday, we look back and see what we accomplished," Carroll said. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

Messis 75th-minute goal answered some of the criticism the clubs all-time leading scorer had received for his lacklustre performances in the teams recent losses in the league, Champions League and Copa del Rey final. Barcelona was on its way to another defeat when Aritz Aduriz scored in the 50th, provoking a smattering of white handkerchiefs in the Camp Nou stands, but Pedro Rodriguez equalized when he slotted in Alexis Sanchezs scuffed strike in the 72nd. Barcelona still needed defender Javier Mascherano to block Mikel Ricos point-blank try in injury time to protect the three points after Cristian Tello had wasted one of numerous opportunities to put the result beyond doubt. "After the first half I thought that this wasnt to be our day after missing so many chances," said Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino, whose job probably depends on Barcelona catching Atletico to defend its title. "But we kept fighting. We played with a lot of heart to overcome a difficult week and a game that had turned against us. Messi defends himself on the pitch and I am happy for him." Barcelona moved provisionally into second place, four points behind leader Atletico Madrid. Madrid is two points behind Barcelona but with a game to play. Messi set up his winner after earning a foul on the edge of the area, and the Argentina forward used his left foot to finally beat Gorka Iraizoz after the goalkeeper had denied him twice. While not exactly his electrifying old self, Messi was active creating scoring chances from the start, but Alexis Sanchez sent Pedros pass off the bar from close range in the 38th. Barcelonas attack was working. Its defence, however, showed the same frailties that have plagued it in the second half of the season. Adurizs beautiful bicycle kick crashed into the post before goalkeeper Jose Pinto palmed away Markel Susaetas follow-up at thhe half-hour mark.dddddddddddd The patience of Barcelonas fans began to fray when Bartra lost the ball near his area and Aduriz expertly drove the ball into the corner of the net. And when Messi sent the ball wide one-on-one against Iraizoz a collective groan filled the stadium. But Pedro was finally able to steer the ball in when Dani Alves began a move from the right flank to start Barcelona on its way to a much-needed victory. "We knew that after all the opinions and criticism that we have received that we had to do our job and be professionals," Mascherano said. "We have to hold on to that small hope that if we win our games we can then see what happens. We cant just let (Atletico and Madrid) slip up and not be there." Bilbaos loss put its hold on fourth place and the last Champions League in danger after Sevilla closed the gap to three points by thrashing Granada 4-0, with the Basques hosting the Andalusian side next round. Sevilla, which opens its Europa League semifinal against Valencia on Thursday, eased past Granada thanks to Diego Mainzs own goal and goals by Kevin Gameiro, Stephane Mbia and Victor Machin. Celta Vigo outclassed Almeria with a 4-2 away win as forward Manuel "Nolito" Agudo netted a double, and Paulao scored one goal and set up another, but both for the wrong team, as bottom-side Real Betis slumped to a demoralizing 3-1 defeat at Rayo Vallecano. Celta kept Almeria in the relegation zone thanks to Nolitos brace and goals by fellow forwards Charles and Fabian Orellana, while Rafina set up two scores. Paulaos nightmare began in the 14th when he left his back pass woefully short of reaching goalkeeper Adan Garrido, and Rochina Raixes poached the ball to roll it in. The Brazilian defender followed that mistake by clearing a cross into his own net in the 27th. Paulao asked to be substituted and was replaced five minutes later, with the Rayo fans in Vallecas Stadium politely applauding him to show their support. Betis was left on the brink of relegation, 10 points from safety with four games to go. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '

CHICAGO - The Chicago Blackhawks are hitting the road at full speed. Jonathan Toews and Steve Montador each scored twice to help the Blackhawks beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 on Sunday night for their third straight victory. Duncan Keith had a goal and assist for Chicago (11-4-3), which handed Edmonton its third consecutive loss. Daniel Carcillo capped the scoring with an empty-net goal. The Blackhawks, one of the NHLs quickest and most-skilled teams, have 16 goals during the winning streak. They hope the burst will provide momentum as they embark on a six-game "circus" trip that will keep them away from the United Center, where theyre 7-1-2, until Nov. 29. "Its great for everyones confidence to see different guys score," Toews said. "I dont think it matters to anybody who scores as long as we find a way." Montador, a defenceman playing his 10th NHL season, had his first two-goal game. "It was important we finish this homestand right," Montador said. "Were still learning, still making mistakes and learning from them." He beat Oilers centre Lennart Petrell with a nifty move to score the first one. Montador notched his second playing in a forward spot -- and parked in the slot -- on a power play. Acquired by Chicago in the off-season, Montador has made a career as a physical, stay-at-home defenceman. But in his last three games, he has three goals. "Hes had a couple of good games," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "That first goal was pretty remarkable for a defenceman." Ryan Smyth, Jordan Eberle and Shawn Horcoff scored for the Oilers (9-6-2). Edmonton goalie Nikolai Khabibulin surrendered a season-high five goals on 34 shots and lost his second straight game in regulation after starting the season 7-0-2. The Blackhawks came out firing at Khabibulin, who played four seasons in Chicago before signing as a free agent with Edmonton in July 2009. "(Khabibulin) is one of those goalies where if he stops a couple of big ones early, he can get hot and steal a game from you," Toews said. "You dont want to let that happen, so we stayed on him." Khabibulin, who entered the game with an NHL-leading 1.18 goals-against average and .957 save percentage, has allowed eight goals in the consecutive losses after permitting just nine in his first nine games. Oilers coach Tom Renney didnt blame his goalie, but slammed his teams performance as "awful." After a surprising start this season -- including a six-game winning streak -- Edmonton has lost four of five. "I dont think they realize yet what it takes to win on a nightly basis," Renney said. "We have a couple of rungs to go and it starts in your own head. "We understand the depth of the people were playing and the experience theyve had with winning and were still working on that. But theres no excuses. We needed to man up tonight and we didnt do it." Chicagos Corey Crawford made 20 saves. Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook sustained a lower-body injury in the second period and didnt return. The Blackhawks jumped ahead 2-0 early in the first on goals by Toews and Montador just 36 seconds apart. Toews opened the scoring 4:55 in when he circled the net and lofted a shot over Khabibulins glove. Montador made it 2-0 at 5:29 when he skated around Petrell and plowed to the net. Smyth cut it to 2-1 midway through the first by cutting to the net and stuffing a shot under Crawford. But Montador deflected in a power-play goal from the slot with 3:49 left in the period to make it 3-1. Toews struck again 22 seconds into the second and extended Chicagos lead to 4-1 by banging a loose puck past Khabibulins outstretched left pad. Eberle finished a breakaway with a backhand shot at 6:17 to cut it to 4-2, but Keith connected 1:30 later on a screened drive from the left point to restore the Blackhawks three-goal lead. Horcoffs power-play goal, on a tip in, cut it to 5-3 with 45 seconds left in the second. Carcillo added an empty-net goal with 1:45 left in the third to complete the scoring. The 27-year-old Niskanen, the more offensive-minded of the pair of defencemen joining the Capitals, got a $40.25 million, seven-year contract. "Its a very big commitment from Washington. Thats no small thing. Youre talking a seven-year commitment for a very substantial amount of money," said Niskanen, who got married Saturday. Mark Sanchez and Michael Vick have traded places. Bounced out of New York after the Jets signed Vick last Friday, Sanchez has moved down turnpike and signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. A news conference is scheduled for Friday "Ive said many times that we will always look to add quality players at the quarterback position," Eagles coach Chip Kelly said in a statement. He called the signing a "no-brainer." "Mark has started 68 games in his career and has taken his teams deep into the playoffs multiple times, so we really like what he brings to the table from an experience standpoint," Kelly said. "I also had the chance to see Mark play in college and have always had respect for his game and athletic ability." Sanchez spent last season on injured reserve after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in a preseason game. He led the Jets to the AFC championship game his first two seasons in the NFL before struggling the next two. Sanchez had an NFL-leading 52 turnovers in 2012-13. Sanchez, in his sixth year in the league, will be added to a mix of quarterbacks that includes Nick Foles, Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne. In colleege, Barkley succeeded Sanchez at Southern California.dddddddddddd "You can never have enough talent at the quarterback position on your roster, so when Mark became available we immediately became interested," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said. Roseman pointed to Sanchezs "valuable experience." "Hell have the chance to come in and learn the playbook, and we feel hell be a nice veteran addition to the quarterback room," he said. Sanchez was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft and drew comparisons to Joe Namath in New York. He had seemingly beat out rookie Geno Smith for the starting job in a preseason competition last August before getting hurt. Sanchez has thrown 68 touchdown passes, 69 interceptions and lost 20 fumbles. His career completion percentage is just 55.1 and his passer rating is only 77.1. While Vick will compete with Smith for the starting job in New York, Sanchez is coming to Philadelphia as insurance. Foles had a breakout sophomore season and led the Eagles to the NFC East title after replacing an injured Vick in Week 5. Foles threw 29 touchdowns and only two interceptions in 11 starts, including a playoff loss to New Orleans. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
